Four-Year Education Plan

Consultation has concluded

RVS is developing a new 2023 – 2027 Four-Year Education Plan (Education Plan). It serves to guide the division’s priorities and strategies to achieve strong learning results and ensure a positive learning environment for all students.

Hearing from our students, parents/guardians, staff and the community about their experiences, ideas and hopes for the future is an important part of developing the Education Plan.

We hope you will take the opportunity to provide us with your valuable feedback through RVSEngage. All information about the development of the Education Plan will be available on this page. Please follow along and share your thoughts!

Engagement Process

Annual Four-Year Education Plan Review and Update

The Four-Year Education Plan is reviewed annually and progress is reported to the government and shared publicly through the Annual Education Results Report (AERR). This includes a survey that provides the division with important data from students, parents/guardians and staff on how we are doing and where we can improve. Through the review, we identify progress made and areas that require more attention. From the results, RVS determines areas of focus for the year ahead and if any changes need to be made to goals and strategies. This annual review process allows RVS to refine and update the plan as needed to respond to evolving needs of our students and to changes within the public education system.

Strategic Plan and Four-Year Education Plan Public Engagement

The 2022 – 2026 Strategic Plan was shaped by input received from students, parents/guardians, staff and the community in a two-part engagement resulting in 29,350 comments. It is also the foundation for the RVS Four-Year Education Plan and guides the division’s focus on student learning and overall educational experience. To help inform the Strategic Plan and begin to shape the next Four-Year Education Plan we asked students, parents/guardians, staff and the community three open-ended questions designed to understand hopes for children’s education and school experience and what RVS should focus on.

The feedback we heard is summarized here.

Staff Engagement

In February 2023, RVS brought all school staff together for a professional learning day to build from what we heard in 2022 and help shape a first draft of the new Four-Year Education Plan. This culminated in approximately 400 pages of feedback from our schools.

Key themes we heard from our schools are captured in these word clouds.

This feedback has been thoroughly and carefully reviewed and reflected on to help inform the first draft goals and outcomes for the Four-Year Education Plan.

Public Engagement

RVS would like to hear from you on the draft Four-Year Education Plan goals and outcomes through an online survey below that is open until April 14. This feedback will be used to refine and finalize the plan, which will be provided to the Board of Trustees for consideration at its May 25 public meeting.

We encourage you to take the time to share your insights, thoughts and ideas to help inform the development of this Education Plan.
